Use Backups in the left menu. If your plan includes backups, new servers already take an Automatic backup every day. Before a big change, such as a new DDNet version or a cleanup of maps, click Start backup yourself.
What your server holds
| What | Where under Files |
|---|---|
| Maps | data/maps (and their 0.7 copies in data/maps7) |
| Records (finish times) | .local/share/ddnet/ddnet-server.sqlite |
| Your own settings and votes | myServerconfig.cfg |
| The game's start file | data/autoexec_server.cfg |
A panel backup copies the whole server folder, so all of it is included.
Make a backup
- Open your server in the panel and click Backups in the left menu.
- Click Start backup. Keep Files selected.
To keep a copy at home, open the menu Actions for the backup and choose Download.
Restore
A restore replaces the current files with the backup; anything changed since is lost.
- Stop the server.
- Open the menu Actions for the backup and choose Restore to server, then confirm.
- Start the server.
To bring back only one map or the records, use Restore some files...: How to restore only some files from a backup.
Good to know
- The Automatic backup schedule is in Quick Tasks. Its time can be changed on Backups, Scheduled backups, Edit. See How to create, download and restore backups.
- Deleting a map on the Maps page keeps its records in the records database.
