Servers renew by invoice. This page explains what happens if one is not paid, so there are no surprises.
The timeline
- Your renewal invoice is created in advance. It appears on the Billing page about two weeks before the due date, so you have time to pay.
- On the due date, an unpaid invoice becomes overdue. We email you reminders. If you have a saved payment method, it may be charged a few days before the due date.
- Suspension. If the invoice is still unpaid, the server is suspended. Today this happens 5 days after the due date. A suspended server is stopped and players cannot join, but its files are kept.
- Termination. If it stays unpaid, the service is terminated and its data is deleted permanently. We email you warnings before this happens, and the email states the date. The panel also shows how long files and backups are kept when an invoice is overdue. Deleted data cannot be recovered. Our Terms of Service set the rules for this.
Paying at any point before termination brings the server back.
Bring a suspended server back
- Sign in to the panel and open Billing.
- Find the overdue invoice and click Pay.
- Pay by card or wallet. See How to view, pay and download your invoices.
- The server is unsuspended automatically once the payment is confirmed. Start it from the server page if it stays offline.
If it is still suspended a few minutes after payment, open a ticket with the invoice number. See How to open a support ticket.
Avoid it
- Save a payment method so renewals pay themselves. See How payment methods and automatic renewals work.
- Keep an email address you read. Invoices and reminders go there.
- Keep account credit if you prefer to pay in advance. It is spent before any card is charged. See How to use account credit and redeem a gift card.
- Cancel what you do not want. A server you stop paying for is still a server until it is cancelled. See How to cancel or pause your plan.
Back up before it matters
If you cannot pay right away, download your world and important files while the server is still reachable. See How to create, download and restore backups. A suspended server's files are kept, but you cannot count on them forever.
Payment disputes
A chargeback or payment dispute leads to immediate suspension of your services until it is resolved. Please contact us first. See How refunds work.
