How to upload your own Arma 3 world

Arma 3Updated Oct 5, 20264 min read

You can bring an Arma 3 world you already have, from your own computer or another host, to your PlayNHost server.

Back up first. Uploading a world with the same name as the one on the server replaces it. Create a backup of the current world (see How to create, download and restore backups), stop the server, and keep your own original files until the server loads the new world.

Upload and load your world

  1. Stop the server from the panel.
  2. In Files, upload your mission file into the mpmissions folder. The name must follow MissionName.TerrainName.pbo, for example MyMission.Altis.pbo. A file with the same name as an existing mission replaces it.
  3. Open server.cfg and add the mission to the class Missions block, using template = "MyMission.Altis"; (the name without .pbo) and a difficulty such as "Regular".
  4. Start the server. As an admin you can also type #missions in the in-game chat and pick it from the list, or type #mission MyMission.Altis.
  5. To bring an existing profile (difficulty settings and saved mission data), stop the server, make a panel backup first, then upload its files into .local/share/Arma 3 - Other Profiles/server in Files. That folder name starts with a dot, so it sits near the top of the list, or use the Files search box. Files with the same names replace the current ones.

Large files are best uploaded with SFTP. See How to connect to your server files with SFTP and How to upload, edit and manage your server files.

Start a fresh world

Starting fresh can permanently remove the current world. Back it up first.

  1. To restart the running mission without deleting anything, log in as admin in the in-game chat and type #restart. This ends the current mission run, so anything not saved by the mission is lost. To send everyone back to role selection, type #reassign.
  2. For a clean profile, stop the server and make a panel backup first. The folder .local/share/Arma 3 - Other Profiles/server holds your difficulty settings and player profile data, and some missions also keep their saved progress there. The folder name starts with a dot, so it sits near the top of the list, or use the Files search box.
  3. Delete or rename that server folder, then start the server. The game creates a fresh profile, so the difficulty settings, profile data and any mission progress stored in the old folder are gone from the server until you restore them from your backup.
  4. Log in as admin and use #missions to choose the mission again.
