Two kinds exist on this server. Standard mods (also called modlets) are folders you drop into the Mods folder, each with its own ModInfo.xml; most are made of XML files and some also ship a .dll. Oxide (uMod) is a separate, optional plugin framework for uMod plugins, off unless you switch it on.
Back up first. See How to back up and restore your 7 Days to Die world.
Add a mod
- Stop the server.
- In Files open the Mods folder at the root of your server. If there is no Mods folder, create one.
- Upload each mod as its own folder, with the mod's ModInfo.xml directly inside that folder (not inside an extra nested folder).
- If the mod ships a .dll, set EasyAntiCheat to false in Settings, then Game Settings, otherwise players cannot connect. Mods made only of XML files work with it on or off. Turning EasyAntiCheat off removes cheat protection from your server.
- Players then have to start the game with EasyAntiCheat off, using the launcher choice that starts the game without EasyAntiCheat.
- Every player must have the same mods at the same versions in their own game, or they cannot join.
- For Oxide plugins: switch on Oxide (uMod), switch EasyAntiCheat off as well, upload the plugin to oxide/plugins (create the folder if it is missing), and tell players to join with EasyAntiCheat off. Nothing in oxide/plugins runs while Oxide is off.
- Start the server. Mods are read once at boot, so restart after every change. Mods survive restarts and game updates.
Where files go
Open Files and use these places:
- Mods (standard mods, one folder per mod, each with its own ModInfo.xml)
- oxide/plugins (Oxide plugins; they only run while Oxide (uMod) is switched on)
Players need the same mods
Everyone who joins needs the same mods and versions as the server.
Check it worked
Once the server has restarted, read the Console. A mod that loaded shows up during startup, and problems show under Errors and Warnings. See How to use the console and run commands and How to add mods, plugins and modpacks.
If the server stops after you add a mod, remove the newest mod or restore your backup. See How to fix a server that will not start.
