Open the Modding tab and switch on Oxide (uMod), switch EasyAntiCheat off on Game Settings, upload your plugin's .cs file into oxide/plugins and restart. Most 7 Days to Die add-ons are not Oxide plugins: use Oxide only for a plugin that asks for it.
Switch Oxide on
- Open your server in the panel and click the Modding tab.
- On the Oxide (uMod) card, flip the switch. The badge changes from Off to On.
- A box says Saved, and not applied yet. Do not restart yet.
- Open Settings, Game Settings, and switch EasyAntiCheat off. Oxide patches one of the game's files, so the game needs EasyAntiCheat off, as for any modded server.
Add a plugin
- Download the plugin's
.csfile from its uMod page. The card's Documentation link, uMod plugin documentation, explains how plugins work. - On the Oxide card, under Where its add-ons go, click Open Files. Open
oxide, thenplugins. The folder appears after the first start with Oxide on; you can also create it with Create Directory. - Click Upload and pick the
.csfile. - Restart the server.
Check it loaded
Open the Console during the start. With Oxide on you see:
Fetching the current Oxide build...Oxide applied. Plugins in oxide/plugins will load with the server.
The plugins themselves load while the game starts, before the Console connects to it, so their lines are in the game's log: open Files, then logs, then latest.log. A plugin writes its settings to oxide/config on its first start: edit them there and restart.
If you see STARTING WITHOUT OXIDE - plugins in oxide/plugins will NOT load., see Oxide plugins do not load on your 7 Days to Die server.
Updates
The panel fetches the newest Oxide at every start, because a game update puts the game's original file back. Oxide usually releases for a new game version on the same day. If a brand new game update arrives before Oxide has caught up, switch Oxide off until it has.
Switch Oxide off
Flip the switch on the Modding tab and restart. Oxide stops being applied at the next start, and the game's own file comes back with the update after that. Your plugins stay in oxide/plugins, so switching Oxide on again picks them straight back up. Switch EasyAntiCheat on again if you have no other mod that needs it off.
Good to know
- Players install nothing for Oxide plugins, but they must start the game without EasyAntiCheat to join a server that has it off.
- Console players cannot join while EasyAntiCheat is off.
- Changing the switch needs the Change startup permission, if a friend manages the server with you.
