Your players find your Squad server from inside the game. Squad is a 50 vs 50 first-person tactical shooter built around squads, vehicles and proximity voice chat, and a hosted server keeps a match rotation online for your community without anyone having to leave the game running.
Join in a few steps
- Open your server in the panel. If the status badge says Offline, click Start and wait until it says Online. See How to start, stop, restart and force-stop your server.
- Launch Squad from Steam and make sure it is fully updated.
- From the main menu open the server browser.
- A hosted server is not a licensed server, so look for it under the Custom servers menu rather than the main Server browser list.
- Type the server name (the Server Name setting) into the search bar at the bottom of the list to find it quickly.
- Select the server and click Join Server, or double-click it.
- If the server is full you enter a queue and the game launches automatically when a slot opens.
Ports
Players find the server by name in the in-game browser, so they do not type an address. The ports Squad uses for the game, for server queries and for its beacon are all set up for you, so there is nothing to open or type.
Game version
The server must run the same game version as the players. A server that is behind the current Steam version does not show up for players who have updated. By default the server checks for a game update every time it starts, so restarting it brings it up to date. Squad is a large install, so the first start after a patch takes a while. If Auto Update is turned off, the server stays on its current build and players on the new version will no longer see it.
If you cannot join
- The server must be Online. Check the badge at the top of the page.
- Make sure every player runs a compatible game version.
