Space Engineers takes Steam Workshop mods such as blocks, ships, scripts and planets, and the server downloads them for you when it starts. Only Space Engineers Workshop IDs work on this server, and players get the mods downloaded automatically when they connect.
Back up first. See How to back up and restore your Space Engineers world.
Add a mod
- Find the mod on the Steam Workshop and copy the number at the end of its URL (after id=).
- Add the number in the Workshop tab of your server, or in Steam Workshop Mod IDs under Settings, then Game Settings. Both edit the same list. Enter several IDs separated by commas with no spaces, for example 1902970975,514062285.
- Turn Enable Experimental Mode on, because most Workshop mods need it.
- Restart the server. The first start after a change takes noticeably longer while the mods download, so let it finish.
- Order matters: mods load in the order listed, and when two mods change the same thing the one further down the list wins.
- To remove a mod, take its ID out of the list. A mod that added blocks, ships or scripts to the world can leave gaps or broken blocks when removed, so make a panel backup first and remove one mod at a time.
Check it worked
After the first slow start has finished, join the server and check that the mod's blocks or content are available. See How to add mods, plugins and modpacks.
If the server stops after you add a mod, remove the newest mod or restore your backup. See How to fix a server that will not start.
