Most problems with a Soulmask server come down to a few causes. Start with the one that matches what you see.
The server does not show in the in-game server browser
Why: Browser listings can lag after a start or restart.
Fix: Wait a few minutes after the server shows as running, then use the direct connect option in game and enter the Server Address from the Overview page.
You are turned away when joining a server that uses mods
Why: Everyone joining needs the same Workshop mods installed as the server.
Fix: Subscribe to every mod listed in Steam Workshop Mods on the server, restart your game, then try again.
The server takes a long time to start after adding mods or after a game update
Why: The server downloads new mods and checks for game updates during start.
Fix: Wait for the first start after the change to finish. Later starts are quicker.
gm key does nothing or the GM panel will not let you become admin
Why: Admin Password is empty so GM tools are disabled, or the password was changed without a restart, or you did not confirm in the panel.
Fix: Set Admin Password, restart the server, type gm key and the password in the in-game console, then enter the password again in the GM panel and click to become an administrator.
The panel refuses to save your Server Password or Admin Password
Why: Passwords are limited to 32 characters and cannot contain spaces, quotes, backslashes, asterisks or question marks.
Fix: Use a shorter password made of letters, digits and simple symbols.
The panel refuses to save Extra Arguments or Server Name
Why: Extra Arguments is limited to 32 characters. Server Name is limited to 85 characters and cannot contain double quotes or backslashes.
Fix: Shorten the value and remove quotes.
Recent building or progress is missing after the server was stopped
Why: The world is written to disk on the Save Interval, so a hard stop can lose what happened since the last save.
Fix: Stop the server with the Stop button. As an admin, run gm BaoCun in the in-game console before a planned restart.
