Right after a Facepunch update, the newest Oxide or Carbon may not be built for the new Rust version yet, and the old one does not run on it, so your plugins do not load. Do not restart by hand while Game Settings says the panel is waiting: it restarts your server for you as soon as the framework is out. If plugins are still off once it is out, restart once.
1. Check what the panel says
- Open your server in the panel, click the Settings tab, then Game Settings.
Read the box at the top:
- A newer game build is out, saying that Oxide or Carbon
has not released for it yetandplease do not restart for now. The panel restarts your server for you as soon as the framework is out, with a warning in the game first. Wait. - With Auto Update off, the same box says to update once the framework is out,
usually within an hour or two of Facepunch's update.Once it is out, click Update now yourself. - No box: your server already runs the newest Rust build. See the next section.
- A newer game build is out, saying that Oxide or Carbon
With Auto Update on, you also get a notification when the panel starts waiting, titled A Rust update is out; your server installs it once Oxide is ready (or Carbon). In Activity it says Rust build N is out. The server restarts to install it once Oxide has released for it, and later Restarted the server to install Rust build N.
2. If plugins still do not load
Your server is already on the new build, so the panel does not restart it again. This happens when a wipe or a restart ran before the framework was out.
- Wait until Oxide or Carbon has released for the new Rust build. It usually takes an hour or two.
- Click Restart. The framework installs itself again at every start, so the restart brings the new one: How to update Oxide or Carbon on your Rust server.
- In the Console, type
oxide.version(Carbon:c.version) to see the framework is running.
3. Fix single plugins
Some plugins need their own update for the new Rust build. Open the Modding tab, Plugins, Installed:
- Click Update on plugins that have one: How to install and update plugins on your Rust server.
- On Oxide, a plugin that shows Not running with
It failed to compile, usually because it was written for an older version of Rust.needs a new version from its author. On Carbon, look for the error in the Console: How to fix a plugin that is not running on your Rust server.
