To list a Quake Live server in the game's public server browser on PlayNHost, set Server Type to 2 (Internet) on the Settings tab, under Game Settings, and restart the server. 2 is the default, so a new server is already listed under its Server Name. 1 (LAN) and 0 (Offline) keep it out of the list.
How do I change the Server Type?
- Open your server in the panel and click the Settings tab.
- Under Game Settings, find Server Type. Its description reads "0 = Offline, 1 = LAN, 2 = Internet".
- Type
2to be listed publicly, or0or1to stay out of the list. - Click outside the field. The panel saves it and shows "Saved. The server must restart before these take effect."
- Click Restart now and wait for the badge to say Online.

The panel's own help text for Quake Live, on the Settings tab, sums it up: Server Type controls who can find you, Internet lists you publicly, LAN and Offline do not.
Which value should I pick?
| Server Type | Meaning | In the public list? |
|---|---|---|
2 | Internet (default) | Yes, under your Server Name |
1 | LAN | No |
0 | Offline | No |
Use only 0, 1 or 2: the panel refuses a number above 2. For a server you share with people over the internet, keep 2. To keep strangers out while staying listed, set a Server Password instead: How to change your Quake Live server name and password.
Can players join a server that is not listed?
The list is only one way in. Players can also type /connect and your Server Address in Quake Live's console, which does not depend on the list: How to join your Quake Live server. The panel describes 0 and 1 only as unlisted, so if someone outside cannot connect after you set Server Type to 0 or 1, set it back to 2 and restart.
My server is set to 2 but I cannot find it in the list
- Check that the badge says Online, and that you restarted after the change.
- Look for the exact Server Name in the list. A new server is called
A Quake Live Server, like many others, so give yours its own name. - Join with
/connectmeanwhile: it does not depend on the list.
