Most problems with a Mordhau server come down to a few causes. Start with the one that matches what you see.
My server does not appear in the server browser
Why: The server may still be starting, a new server can take a while to show in the list, or you are searching for a name other than the Server Name.
Fix: Wait until the panel shows the server online, search for the exact Server Name and try again. You can also join from the in-game console with open and your Server Address.
Players cannot join after a Mordhau update
Why: The server is on an older patch than the players, usually because Auto Update is off.
Fix: Turn Auto Update on under Settings, then Game Settings, and restart the server so it installs the newest patch.
AdminLogin says the password is wrong, or nothing happens
Why: Admin Password is empty, was changed without restarting the server, or was typed differently.
Fix: Check Admin Password under Settings, then Game Settings, restart the server and type AdminLogin followed by exactly that password in the in-game console.
The server name or password I typed into Game.ini keeps changing back
Why: The panel writes Server Name, Server Password and Admin Password into Game.ini every time the server starts.
Fix: Change them under Settings, then Game Settings, and restart.
A mod does not install or does not show up
Why: The number in Server Mods is not the mod's number on mordhau.mod.io, or the list holds anything other than digits and commas. A number that does not exist fails to download.
Fix: Copy the number from the mod's mordhau.mod.io page, put only numbers separated by commas in Server Mods and restart.
The server starts on a different map from the one I wanted
Why: Starting Map sets the map and mode the server starts on, and it is applied on a restart.
Fix: Pick the map and mode under Starting Map in Settings, then Game Settings, and restart the server.
Still stuck?
Open a ticket in the category that fits and include the last 50 to 100 lines of the console. See How to open a support ticket and How to fix a server that will not start.
