Insurgency: Sandstorm mods (maps, weapons and gameplay changes) are hosted on mod.io, the official mod site for the game, not on the Steam Workshop.
Back up first. See How to back up and restore your Insurgency: Sandstorm world.
Add a mod
- Create a free mod.io account and open your account settings, then Access, and create a token with read access.
- Find the mod you want at mod.io/g/insurgencysandstorm and note the number id from its page.
- In Settings, then Game Settings, paste your token into mod.io access token.
- Enter the mod ids in Mods, separated by commas, for example 123456,654321.
- Restart the server. It downloads the mods when it starts, which can take a long time the first time, and players get the mods from mod.io as they join.
- To play a mod map, set Default Map and Scenario Name to the exact names the mod provides.
Where files go
Open Files and use these places:
- Insurgency, then Config, then Server, then Mods.txt (written for you from the Mods setting)
Players need the same mods
Everyone who joins needs the same mods and versions as the server.
Check it worked
The first start with new mods can take a long time while they download. Once the server is Online, join it and look for the mod's content, such as its map under the Scenario Name you set. See How to add mods, plugins and modpacks.
If the server stops after you add a mod, remove the newest mod or restore your backup. See How to fix a server that will not start.
