Your players find your Insurgency: Sandstorm server from inside the game. Insurgency: Sandstorm is a team-based tactical shooter with close-quarters combat, played in Versus (player against player) and Checkpoint (co-op against bots) modes, and a hosted server gives you your own match with your own map, scenario and mods.
Join in a few steps
- Open your server in the panel. If the status badge says Offline, click Start and wait until it says Online. See How to start, stop, restart and force-stop your server.
- Launch Insurgency: Sandstorm from Steam and wait for the main menu.
- Open the server browser from the main menu.
- Search for the Server Name you set in Settings, then Game Settings, and select your server from the list.
- Wait while the map and any mods load. This server type has no join password setting, so the game does not ask for one.
- If your server does not appear in the list after it shows Online, wait a few minutes and search again, then open a support ticket if it is still missing.
Ports
The server also uses a separate query port that the panel manages for you, so there is nothing to open or enter for it. Join by finding the server by name in the in-game server browser.
Game version
The game on each player's PC and the server should both be on the current game version. With Auto Update on (the default), every server start checks and updates the server files, so restart the server after a game update. Mods are different: each player downloads them from mod.io automatically as they connect.
If you cannot join
- The server must be Online. Check the badge at the top of the page.
- Make sure every player runs a compatible game version and the same mods.
