You can bring an Icarus world you already have, from your own computer or another host, to your PlayNHost server.
Back up first. Uploading a world with the same name as the one on the server replaces it. Create a backup of the current world (see How to create, download and restore backups), stop the server, and keep your own original files until the server loads the new world.
Upload and load your world
- On your PC, copy your single-player prospect file somewhere safe first. Do not rename or edit it, because that corrupts the save and the damage cannot be recovered.
- Your single-player prospects are in %LocalAppData%\Icarus\Saved\PlayerData\
<your Steam ID>\Prospects on your PC. Pick the prospect .json file you want to move. - Stop the server from the panel.
- In Files, open Icarus, Saved, PlayerData, DedicatedServer, Prospects. If the DedicatedServer or Prospects folder does not exist yet, create it.
- Upload your prospect .json file unchanged. If a file with the same name is already in the folder it is replaced by the one you upload, so download the old one first if you want to keep it.
- Start the server, join it and, from the Server Lobby, load the prospect by its save name. An admin can also type LoadProspect followed by the save name. If the server drops you straight into the old prospect instead of the lobby, an admin types /ReturnToLobby first (this kicks all players).
Large files are best uploaded with SFTP. See How to connect to your server files with SFTP and How to upload, edit and manage your server files.
Start a fresh world
Starting fresh can permanently remove the current world. Back it up first.
- Download the Prospects folder first so you can go back to the old save.
- Join the server and use the Server Lobby to start a new prospect with a new save name. The existing prospects stay on the server untouched, only the new one is added. Admins can also use the CreateProspect command.
- The server resumes the last prospect it ran each time it restarts, so if you land inside the old prospect instead of the lobby, an admin types /ReturnToLobby first. This kicks all players.
- If you also want the old prospect gone for good, stop the server and delete its .json file from Icarus, Saved, PlayerData, DedicatedServer, Prospects in Files. That prospect and all progress in it are lost and cannot be recovered without your backup.
