On an Icarus server, the world you play is a prospect: a mission, an outpost or the Open World. When nobody is playing, the server waits in the Server Lobby. The first player to join picks a prospect there, from the game's own menus or with a lobby command.
How the server handles prospects
- When the last player leaves, the server goes back to the Server Lobby right away. The prospect is kept.
- After a restart, the server tries to resume the last prospect, and goes back to the lobby if nobody joins.
- Any player in the lobby can start or load a prospect. Only an admin can delete one.
These rules are set by the panel and cannot be changed. The details: Icarus server settings: every option explained.
Pick a prospect in the lobby
- Join the server: How to join your Icarus server.
- In the Server Lobby, choose a new prospect or outpost, or a saved one, in the game's menus.
You can also type a command in the game chat. In the lobby the slash in front is optional.
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
ResumeProspect | Resumes the last prospect or outpost the server ran. |
LoadProspect [ProspectName] | Loads a saved prospect from the server's Prospects folder by name. |
CreateProspect [ProspectType] [Difficulty] [Hardcore] [SaveName] | Starts a new prospect. |
For CreateProspect:
- ProspectType is the game's internal name, for example
OpenWorld_Styxfor the Open World on Styx orOutpost002_Forestfor the Arcwood outpost. RocketWerkz lists every name on its Prospect Names page. - Difficulty is 1 (easy) to 4 (extreme).
- Hardcore is
True(no respawns) orFalse. - SaveName is the name the prospect is saved under. An outpost needs one.
Example:
CreateProspect OpenWorld_Styx 2 False MyColony
Where prospects are saved
Each prospect is one .json file in Icarus/Saved/PlayerData/DedicatedServer/Prospects/ in Files. The file name is the prospect's name.
- Bring one from your PC: How to upload your own Icarus world.
- Keep a copy: How to download your Icarus prospects.
- Start over: How to delete a prospect or start over on your Icarus server.
Leave a prospect
An admin can type /ReturnToLobby in the game chat. It kicks every player and sends the server back to the lobby. See How to become admin on your Icarus server.
The settings file has lines that load or create a prospect at start, but with nobody joining the server goes back to the lobby right after, so picking the prospect in the lobby is the way to go. Details: How to edit ServerSettings.ini on your Icarus server.
