A HumanitZ server uses two ports: the game port and a Steam query port. On PlayNHost both are assigned and open for you, for TCP and UDP. Most players never type a port, because they find the server by its name in the server browser. Players who join by address use the Server Address from the Overview page.
Which ports does a HumanitZ server use?
| Port | What it is for | On your PlayNHost server | Where you see it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Game port | The port in your Server Address | The Primary port | Server Address on Overview, and Ports & Network |
| Steam query port | Steam server queries | A port of its own | The second row under All ports on Ports & Network |
The panel starts HumanitZ with both numbers every time, as -port and -queryport, so the server always listens on the ports the panel shows.
We found no default numbers, protocols or port descriptions published by Yodubzz Studios, the developer, on its website or its Steam pages. The names above are the ones the start line uses. On PlayNHost the protocol does not matter: every port your server has accepts TCP and UDP.
Why are my HumanitZ ports not the numbers in other guides?
Each PlayNHost server gets its own ports from the machine it runs on, so many servers can share one IP address without getting in each other's way. Numbers you see in guides for home servers are usually not yours. Always use the ports the panel shows for your server.
Where do I find the address and ports in the panel?
- Open your server in the panel and click Ports & Network in the left menu.
- Under Give this to your players, find the address written as IP and port, for example
203.0.113.10:25600. This is the game port. - Look under All ports. The row with the Primary badge, described as The port players connect to, is the game port. The other row your server came with is the Steam query port, for example
25601. - To label the query port, open the ... menu at the end of its row, choose Rename, type
Queryas the Description, and click Save Changes. The row then shows your description.
The Overview page has the game port address too, on the Server Address row of the server card. Its Join button copies it.
The query port is not on the Settings tab: Game Settings has no field for it. Each server has its own query port, so take the number from All ports.
How do players connect to a HumanitZ server on PlayNHost?
Most players open the multiplayer server browser in HumanitZ and search for your Server Name, so nobody types a port. Players who connect by address type the Server Address, address and port together, for example 203.0.113.10:25600. The full steps are in How to join your HumanitZ server.
Which port does a join by IP use?
Use the Server Address first, as the join guide says. Yodubzz has published one note on which port an IP join takes, in the patch notes of 26 February 2024, during early access: "Fixed connect to IP (Use steam query port)." Its only later note on IP joins is "Fixed issues with joining by IP." (July 2024). Since then the game left early access with version 1.0 on 6 February 2026, and Yodubzz wrote on 17 February 2026 that it had moved "to a new networking SDK" late in development. So that 2024 note may no longer hold. If the Server Address does not connect, try your server's IP with the Steam query port from All ports, for example 203.0.113.10:25601.
If you set a Server Password, players need it whichever way they join. Since the 1.02 update of 28 February 2026, Yodubzz says players "can no longer bypass password protected servers using only IP address".
Do I need to open ports on my router or firewall?
No. The machine your HumanitZ server runs on accepts connections from the internet on the ports the panel gives to servers, for both TCP and UDP, and both HumanitZ ports are among them. The panel says so under All ports: Every port accepts TCP and UDP. Your players' home routers let outgoing connections through, so they do not open anything either.
Port forwarding is for a server you run at home behind your own router. With a hosted server it is not your job.
What does the firewall not allow?
Only the ports listed under All ports reach your server from outside. A tool that listens on a port of its own cannot be reached unless it uses one of them. If your plan includes extra ports, All ports shows Add a port. The machine chooses the new port's number, as the panel says: Port numbers are assigned by the machine your server runs on - you can name a port, but not choose its number. If there is no Add a port button, your plan includes no extra ports, so open a ticket and say what needs one.
Can I use RCON on my HumanitZ server?
Not from the panel. Yodubzz announced "the newly added RCON system to allow remote communication and restarts" with the 917 update of April 2025, and does not document its port or settings. Your server has no RCON port, and Game Settings has no RCON option. For admin commands in the game, use the Admin Password: How to become admin on your HumanitZ server. If you need RCON for an outside tool, open a ticket.
Can I change which port is the primary, or remove one?
Keep the game port as Primary, and leave both ports in place. Make primary in a row's ... menu moves only the game port: on the query port's row it would put the game port and the query port on one number, because the server is still started with the same query port.
The menu can also offer Remove port on the query port's row. Do not use it. On plans without extra ports the panel refuses it anyway; where it goes through, HumanitZ would still be started on that number, which no longer reaches your server, and a removed port goes back to the machine, where another server can get it.
Common HumanitZ port problems and fixes
My server is not in the server browser
- Wait until the badge says Online. The panel shows it once the Console prints
Success => Session created!, which HumanitZ logs when its session is up. - Search for the exact Server Name.
- The query port is already open, so there is nothing to open. In the meantime players can connect with the Server Address, as described above.
The other causes are in HumanitZ server problems and fixes.
A friend cannot connect by IP
- Copy the address again from Server Address: address and port together. If that does not connect, try the IP with the Steam query port from All ports.
- Check that the badge says Online.
- School, work and public networks can block game ports. Ask the player to try another network.
The Active players card says No answer from the server
The panel reads the player count from the Steam query port. While the server starts or is stopped, the Active players card says No answer from the server and It is not responding on its query port. That is normal while it is starting or stopped. Wait for Online. If the message stays once the server is online, restart it once, then open a ticket with the last Console lines.
