How to reset the records on your DDNet server

DDNet (DDraceNetwork)Updated Oct 23, 20263 min read

Your server keeps every finish time and rank in one file, ddnet-server.sqlite. To start the records from zero, take a backup, stop the server, delete that file under Files, and start the server again. DDNet makes a new, empty one. Your maps and settings stay as they are.

What a reset removes and keeps

  • Removed: every finish time, rank and team rank on every map, and the team runs players saved with /save.
  • Kept: your maps, the start map, Game Settings, myServerconfig.cfg and your votes.

Deleting a map on the Maps page never touches the records.

Reset the records

  1. Take a backup, so you can go back: open Backups in the left menu and click Start backup. See How to back up and restore your DDNet server.
  2. Stop the server, and wait until the badge says Offline.
  3. Click the Files tab and open the folder .local/share/ddnet.
  4. Delete ddnet-server.sqlite. If ddnet-server.sqlite-wal and ddnet-server.sqlite-shm are there too, delete them as well.
  5. Start the server. DDNet makes a new records file at the start.

From then on, /rank and /top5 in the chat start from zero.

Changed your mind?

Restore the backup from step 1. To bring back only the records, use Restore some files... on that backup and pick .local/share/ddnet/ddnet-server.sqlite: How to restore only some files from a backup.

Good to know

  • Do not delete the records file while the server runs: DDNet writes to it during play.
  • To keep a copy at home, download the file from Files before you delete it.
