Teams are on and optional on a new DDNet server. To change that, put sv_team and the team size lines in a file named reset.cfg in the main folder under Files, and restart the server.
The team settings
| Line | What it does | DDNet's default |
|---|---|---|
sv_team 0 | Teams off: everyone plays together. | |
sv_team 1 | Teams on and optional. | 1 |
sv_team 2 | Players must be in a team to play. | |
sv_team 3 | Every player is put in a team of their own. | |
sv_max_team_size 4 | The largest team. | 128 |
sv_min_team_size 2 | The smallest team that gets a team rank when it finishes. | 2 |
Change them
DDNet resets the team rules each time a map loads, then runs a file named reset.cfg. Put your team lines in that file, so they apply on every map.
- Open your server in the panel and click the Files tab.
- In the main folder, next to
myServerconfig.cfg, create a file namedreset.cfg, or open it if it is there. - Add your lines, one per line, for example:
sv_team 2
sv_max_team_size 4
- Save the file and restart the server.
A sv_team line in myServerconfig.cfg does not last: the first map that loads puts it back to 1.
Team settings cannot be changed from the Console while a map runs: DDNet locks them once the map has loaded. Change the file and restart, or change the map.
Some maps set their own team rules when they load, and those win on that map.
Commands players use in chat
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/team 5 | Joins team 5. /team alone shows your team. |
/lock and /unlock | Locks the team, so nobody else can join, and the team restarts when a player dies. |
/invite Name | Invites a player to a locked team. |
/join Name | Joins the team of that player. |
As admin, you can move a player with set_team_ddr followed by their id and the team number, in the Console.
