These are the options on the Settings, Game Settings page of a PlayNHost DayZ server, taken from the panel's own definitions. Rows marked read only are set by your plan or the server and cannot be changed.
All settings
| Setting | What it does | Allowed | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Automatic Updates | Quickly checks for any server or mod updates on startup, and updates if necessary. | on or off | on |
| Server Name | Name of the server that will appear in the server list. | up to 64 characters, no line breaks | DayZ Server |
| Server Password | Password required to join the server. Leave blank to have no password. | up to 20 characters, letters, numbers, dashes and underscores | empty |
| Admin Password | Password to log in as an admin on the server. | up to 20 characters, letters, numbers, dashes and underscores | empty |
| RCON Password | This password is used to authenticate third parties to access server controls via RCON. | up to 20 characters, letters, numbers, dashes and underscores | empty |
| Modlist File (Exported from DayZ Launcher) | Optional. The file name of a modlist.html exported from the DayZ Launcher and uploaded to your server's root folder. When the file is present and valid, every mod it lists is added to the client-side mod list automatically. Must be a plain file name with no directory path - for example: modlist.html | letters and numbers and these symbols: _ . - | modlist.html |
| Steam Workshop Mods (Client-Side) | Not currently available: downloading a Workshop mod needs a Steam account that owns DayZ itself, and the account this server installs from only owns the DayZ Dedicated Server tool, so a mod ID here will fail to download rather than load. A vanilla server works normally without this. Mods to load, written as a semicolon-separated list of @-prefixed Steam Workshop IDs. Example: @1559212036;@1564026768 The ID is the number at the end of a mod's Workshop URL (steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1559212036). Every time the server starts, these mods are downloaded and updated, and each mod's .bikey files are copied into your keys/ folder so players are allowed to connect. | mod folder names that start with @, separated by semicolons | empty |
| Verify Signatures | Checks that connecting players are running mod files that exactly match the server's. Players whose mod files have been altered or are out of date are refused. Choose 2 to check mod signatures. This is the recommended setting and the only level of checking DayZ supports. Choose 0 to turn checking off. Only useful while working out why a mod will not load, because it lets players connect with modified files. Change it back when you are done. | one of: 0, 2 | 2 |
| Enforce Game Version | When ON, the server will allow the connection only to clients with same the version as the server. | on or off | on |
| Disable VoN | When ON, will disable Voice over Network (voice chat) in the server. | on or off | off |
| VoN Quality | Voice over Network codec quality; the higher the better. (Values 0-30) | a number from 0 to 30 | 20 |
| Disable Third Person | When ON, will disable third person view while on the server. | on or off | off |
| Disable Crosshair | When ON, will disable the crosshair from being visible while on the server. | on or off | off |
| Disable Personal Light | When ON, will disable a personal light positioned above all clients during the night time while on the server. | on or off | on |
| Darker Nights | When ON, will make nights darker (more accurate nights, but hard to see without a light). | on or off | off |
| Persistent Time | The actual server time is saved to storage, so when ON, the next server start will use the saved time value. | on or off | off |
| Time Multiplier | This is a time multiplier for in-game time (ie. 12 would move a full 24-hour day in-game 12 times faster, making it last 2 hours "in real life"). (Values: 0-24) | a number from 0 to 24 | 12 |
| Night Multiplier | This is an additional multiplier to either speed up or slow down nights in-game. It is multiplied with the "Time Multiplier" variable to get it's final multiplier for night time speed. (Values: 0.1-64.0) | a number from 0.1 to 64 | 1 |
| Make Mod Files Lowercase | Every mod that is set to be loaded will have its folder and files changed to lowercase (to prevent errors). It is recommended to enable this for one server boot after copying a mod from a Windows machine to the server, or if mods seem to not be loading. | on or off | off |
| Validate Server Files | Validates all server files when Automatic Updates is ON. Note: This will significantly increase server startup times, so it is recommended to only enable this when needed. | on or off | off |
| Server-Side Only Mods | Not currently available: downloading a Workshop mod needs a Steam account that owns DayZ itself, and the account this server installs from only owns the DayZ Dedicated Server tool, so a mod ID here will fail to download rather than load. A vanilla server works normally without this. Mods that run on the server only and that players do NOT need to install to connect. Same format as the client-side mod list: a semicolon-separated list of @-prefixed Steam Workshop IDs or uploaded folder names. Example: @1234567890;@MyServerMod These are downloaded and updated on start exactly like client-side mods, and are passed to the game with -serverMod=. | mod folder names that start with @, separated by semicolons | empty |
| Extra Startup Parameters | Extra command-line flags handed to the DayZ server when it starts, separated by spaces. The defaults switch on the logs most admins want: -dologs writes the general server log, -adminlog records player connections and admin actions, -netlog records network traffic, and -freezecheck restarts the server if it stops responding. Removing one of these stops the matching log being written. Leave this as it is unless you know you need a particular flag. Bohemia lists every supported launch parameter on the DayZ community wiki: https://community.bistudio.com/wiki/DayZ:Server_Configuration#Launch_Parameters | text | -dologs -adminlog -netlog -freezecheck |
| Steam Query Port (read only) | UDP port for Steam server list features. Helps the server be visible in the client server browser. | set by your plan or the server | assigned to your server |
| Max Players (read only) | Maximum number of players allowed to join the server. | set by your plan or the server | set by your plan |
| RCON Port (read only) | The port BattlEye RCON listens on, so admin tools such as BattleMetrics can manage your server remotely. This port is assigned together with your server and cannot be changed here. Use it with your RCON password when you connect an admin tool. | set by your plan or the server | assigned to your server |
Good to know
- Settings are written into the server's configuration when the server starts, so restart the server after changing them, and change them in Settings, then Game Settings rather than by editing the configuration file, which is rewritten at every start. Max Players is set by your plan and cannot be edited.
- The panel saves a value when you leave its field. If the value is not allowed, the panel tells you and keeps the old one.
- Passwords and tokens are not listed with a value. Each server starts with one set for you, or with none, as the row says. Set a password before you invite players if you want a private server.
