Most problems with a Conan Exiles server come down to a few causes. Start with the one that matches what you see.
The server starts, loads fully, then restarts or stops by itself with no error
Why: It ran out of memory and the system ended it; Conan Exiles needs far more memory than most games.
Fix: Move to a larger plan. Mods and a bigger world raise usage, so remove mods you do not need.
The server will not start after changing its name or password
Why: A quotation mark in the Server Name or Server Password can break the start command.
Fix: Remove any quotation marks from both fields, then start the server again.
Players cannot find the server in the in-game browser
Why: The browser relies on the query port, and new servers can take a while to appear in the list.
Fix: Join with the direct connect option under play online, using the Server Address on the Overview page, which does not depend on the browser.
Players are refused or told their mods do not match
Why: Everyone joining must have exactly the same Steam Workshop mods as the server.
Fix: Check the IDs in Steam Workshop Mods, have players subscribe to every one of them, and restart the server after any change. Empty the box to run without mods.
Players cannot join after a Conan Exiles update
Why: The server is on an older build than the players' updated game, which happens when Update On Start is off.
Fix: Turn Update On Start on and restart the server so it installs the latest build.
Edits to ServerSettings.ini disappear
Why: Conan writes its current settings back to the file when the server shuts down, overwriting changes made while it was running.
Fix: Stop the server, edit and save the file, then start it. For many options you can use the in-game Admin Panel instead.
My old mods do not work on the server
Why: Funcom states that mods made for the old Legacy game must be upgraded, recooked and repackaged by their authors for Conan Exiles Enhanced.
Fix: Use only Workshop items that their authors have updated for Enhanced.
The remote console will not connect
Why: RCON stays switched off when the RCON Password is empty, and the port is not the game port.
Fix: Set an RCON Password (8 or more characters, letters, digits, dots, underscores or hyphens), restart, and connect to the RCON port shown on Ports & Network.
