Your server updates itself. With BeamMP Server Version set to latest and Auto-update server on, which is how a new server comes, every start checks for a new BeamMP build and installs it. To update now, restart the server.
Why it matters
The Auto-update server setting says why: BeamMP checks the server against its own backend at every start and stops accepting old builds after a client update, so leaving auto-update on is what keeps the server listed and joinable.
Update now
- Restart the server, from Overview or any page with the power buttons.
- In the Console, a new build shows as
[playnhost] Downloading BeamMPwith the new and the installed version, thenBeamMP ... installed. ServerConfig.toml and Resources were not touched.
No line means you already had the newest build. Your mods, plugins, rules and settings are never touched by an update.
See which build runs
Open the Settings tab and look under BeamMP Server Version in Game Settings:
Installed now:and the version, for examplev3.9.3.The newest BeamMP is installed each time the server starts.when you follow the latest build.Auto-update is off, so the server stays on this build.when auto-update is off.- The badge Applies at next start when you picked a version that is not installed yet.

The Players page also shows the BeamMP version next to the map while the server runs. The version command in the Console prints it too.
Run a specific version
- In BeamMP Server Version, type a release tag such as
v3.9.3and press Enter. Tags are listed on BeamMP's GitHub releases page. - Restart. That build is installed at the start, whatever Auto-update server says.
To follow the newest build again, type latest.
If the tag does not exist, the start says could not be downloaded (is it a real release?) and keeps the build you have.
Turn automatic updates off
Auto-update server is under Show advanced at the bottom of Game Settings. With it off and the version on latest, the server stays on the build it has, and the Console says Automatic updates are off. Leave it on unless you have a reason, such as a plugin that does not work on the new build yet.
What players need
Players update their BeamMP launcher and BeamNG.drive themselves. If they cannot join after an update, ask them to update both, and restart your server so it gets the new build. The Play with friends card says: Everyone needs the same game version or branch as the server.
Good to know
- If GitHub cannot be reached at a start, the Console says
Could not reach GitHub to check for a new BeamMP buildand the server starts on the build it has. - A scheduled daily restart keeps the server current: How to restart your BeamMP server on a schedule.
- The PlayNHost tools update with the panel. When a newer version is ready, the Players page says
A newer version of the PlayNHost tools starts with the next restart.
