How to install Nickel moderation on your BeamMP server

Click Install Nickel on the Mods & maps tab, confirm, and restart the server when the install is done. Nickel is a free, open source BeamMP plugin with commands for bans, kicks, mutes and moderator roles, used from the game chat or the console.

Install it

1. Open your server in the panel and click the Mods & maps tab.
2. On the card Nickel moderation, in one click, click Install Nickel.
3. The window asks Install Nickel with its version. It says the server downloads the release from GitHub and the panel checks it is exactly the release we tested before unpacking it. Confirm.
4. The install card shows Installing Nickel with Downloading, Checking and Installing. You can leave the page meanwhile.
5. When it says Nickel is installed, restart the server.

After the restart, the Console shows Nickel's own lines starting [NICKEL and Nickel Plugin fully initialized!. Nickel appears under Server plugins with its version.

Use it

Nickel's commands are listed on its GitHub page. The panel does not run them for you: you use them in the game chat or the Console. See How to use the Console and commands on your BeamMP server.

Nickel and the Players page

The Players page works without Nickel: kick, ban by BeamMP ID, whitelist, guests and vehicle rules come from the PlayNHost plugin: How to kick or ban a player on your BeamMP server. Nickel adds its own commands and keeps its own list of bans and roles, in its folder. The two lists are separate: a ban made with Nickel does not show on the Bans tab, and the other way round.

Good to know

• Nickel updates itself from GitHub when the server starts, so its files can change after this install.
• Nickel prints a warning that chat logging is on in both Nickel and BeamMP. It is harmless. Leave Chat logging on in Game Settings: without it the Chat tab of the Players page no longer shows what players type.
• To remove Nickel, open Actions for its row under Server plugins and choose Remove. This also deletes the data Nickel saved, such as its bans. See How to install server plugins on your BeamMP server.
• Nickel is made by boubouleuh under the MIT license. Its in-game interface is a separate client mod that Nickel's console mentions as Interface Mod not found until you add it.
