You can bring an Abiotic Factor world you already have, from your own computer or another host, to your PlayNHost server.
Uploading a world means removing the Cascade world that is on the server now. Make a panel backup first and stop the server, and keep your own original files until the server loads the new world.
Upload and load your world
- Only Steam saves work: saves from PS5, Xbox and the Windows Store version are not supported on dedicated servers.
- Stop the server from the panel.
- On your PC, open %LocalAppData%\AbioticFactor\Saved\SaveGames\ and go into the folder named after your Steam ID, then into Worlds. Each folder there is one world.
- Make a panel backup first (Backups, then Start backup). Then, in Files, go to AbioticFactor, then Saved, then SaveGames, then Server, then Worlds, and rename the Cascade folder (for example to Cascade-old) or delete it. This removes the current world from play, apart from your backup.
- Rename the world folder you want to use on your PC to Cascade and upload it into Worlds. The server only loads the world named Cascade.
- Start the server and join. The gameplay rules come from the SandboxSettings.ini in the Config, WindowsServer folder, not from the settings saved with the uploaded world, so copy your old rules into that file if you want to keep them.
Large files are best uploaded with SFTP. See How to connect to your server files with SFTP and How to upload, edit and manage your server files.
Start a fresh world
Starting fresh can permanently remove the current world. Back it up first.
- Stop the server and make a panel backup first.
- In Files, open AbioticFactor, then Saved, then SaveGames, then Server, then Worlds. Rename the Cascade folder (for example to Cascade-old) to keep it, or delete it to remove the world for good.
- Start the server. Deleting or renaming the Cascade folder removes that world from play: all buildings, items and character progress in it are lost unless you kept the renamed folder or a backup.
