Your players join your Abiotic Factor server with its Server Address, shown on the server's Overview page in the panel. Abiotic Factor is a co-op survival crafting game for 1 to 6 players set in an underground research facility; a hosted server keeps one shared world running around the clock so friends can join without anyone's PC being the host.
Join in a few steps
- Open your server in the panel. If the status badge says Offline, click Start and wait until it says Online. See How to start, stop, restart and force-stop your server.
- On the Overview page, click the copy icon next to Server Address. It looks like
address:port.

- Launch Abiotic Factor from Steam and wait for the main menu.
- Open the server browser from the main menu. It has a Direct Connect option.
- Choose Direct Connect, type the Server Address from your server's Overview page (address and port) and join.
- Or search the list: make sure dedicated servers are included in the browser's filter options, search for the Server Name you set in the panel and select your server.
- If the server has a password, enter the Server Password when asked.
- If the server does not appear in the in-game list, use Direct Connect, or close the game and look for the server in Steam's own server browser instead.
Ports
Players use the port shown in the Server Address on the Overview page. Your server also has a second port that Steam uses for listing the server; you do not type it in the game and the panel sets it for you.
Game version
A server that is behind the game's current version stops appearing in the in-game server browser, so keep the server on the same version as the players. With Auto Update on (the default) the server checks Steam for a new version every time it starts, so restart the server after a game patch. Leave Auto Update on: if it is off, players on a newer game version will not see or join the server.
If you cannot join
- The server must be Online. Check the badge at the top of the page.
- Copy the address again from the panel. A missing or mistyped port is the most common cause.
- Make sure every player runs a compatible game version.
- Check the password, if you set one. See How to set up your Abiotic Factor server.
