How to upload your own The Isle world

The IsleUpdated Oct 5, 20263 min read

You can bring The Isle world you already have, from your own computer or another host, to your PlayNHost server.

Back up first. This guide moves player progress files only, because The Isle has no separate world file to upload. Files with the same name as ones already on the server replace them. Create a backup first, as described in How to create, download and restore backups, stop the server, and keep your own original files until you have checked your progress is there.

Upload and load your world

  1. Stop the server from the panel.
  2. Make a panel backup first, because the next steps replace player data.
  3. Open Files and go to TheIsle/Saved/PlayerData.
  4. Upload your player data files into that folder. A file with the same name as one already there replaces it.
  5. Start the server and join to check that your progress is there. If it is not, open a ticket and say which files you uploaded.

Large files are best uploaded with SFTP. See How to connect to your server files with SFTP and How to upload, edit and manage your server files.

Start a fresh world

Starting fresh can permanently remove the current world. Back it up first.

  1. Stop the server from the panel.
  2. Make a panel backup first. The next step permanently deletes every player's growth and progress from that folder, and the backup is the only way back.
  3. Open Files, go to TheIsle/Saved/PlayerData and delete the files inside it. Your Game.ini settings, password and admin list are in a different folder and are not touched.
  4. Start the server. This removes every player's growth and progress. If something from the old world still appears after the restart, open a ticket.

See How to back up and restore The Isle world.
