The card This server ran out of memory on your server's Overview page means the server needed more memory than its plan gives it, and the system stopped it. Start it again, then make it lighter. On tModLoader, big mods are the usual cause.
What the card says
It needed more memory than its plan gives it, and the system stopped it. It also says when it last happened and how many times in the last days. It has two buttons: Add more memory, which opens My plan, and See the usage.
Get the server back
- Click Start at the top of the page.
- Watch the Console until it shows
Type 'help' for a list of commands. - The world is as it was at its last save. Players lose what they did since then.
Why a Terraria server runs out
- tModLoader mods. The panel's own words:
Large mods such as Calamity need several GB of memory: if the server stops while loading mods, it needs a bigger plan. - A large world with many players.
- Many TShock plugins.
Fix it
- Look at the Usage card on Overview, on Memory, with players online, to see how close you run to the limit: How much RAM does a Terraria server need?
- On tModLoader, remove mods you do not play with: How to update or remove tModLoader mods on your server.
- On TShock, remove plugins you do not use: How to upload or remove a TShock plugin.
- If it keeps happening with what you want to run, Add more memory on the card opens My plan. See How to change your plan or billing cycle.
Good to know
- Type
savein the Console now and then on a busy evening, or rely on the game's autosave, so less is lost if it stops. - More ideas: How to make your Terraria server run smoother.
