A PlayNHost Palworld server takes as many players at once as your plan's player slots, and the panel accepts 1 to 32 slots for Palworld. You can run with fewer than your plan allows with Edit slots on the Active players card, and raise it back up to the plan's number at any time.
Where the number comes from
- Max Players under Settings, Game Settings is read only and shows the slots your server runs with: your plan's limit, or the lower number you chose with Edit slots. The panel writes it into Palworld's settings at every start.
- The panel's rule for that field is a whole number from 1 to 32.
- Pocketpair's own launch options page uses
-players=32as its example of the maximum number of participants. Its settings page does not name a higher limit.

Run with fewer players
Click Edit slots on the Active players card and pick a lower number. The server restarts to apply it: How to change player slots on your Palworld server.
Do more players need more memory?
Each player adds work for the server: bases, Pals at work and items on the ground. Pocketpair's requirements page lists 16 GB of memory for a dedicated server and adds "Recommended for larger than 32GB". Co-op is different
Palworld's in-game co-op, where one player hosts from their own game, is not the same as a dedicated server. Gameplay Settings has a Co-op player limit setting (default 4), but on your PlayNHost server the player limit is Max Players.
