Can you add mods to your Palworld server?

PalworldUpdated Oct 29, 20263 min read

Not at the moment. A PlayNHost Palworld server runs Palworld's Linux dedicated server, and Pocketpair's guide says "server-side mods work only on the dedicated server with Windows edition". The Modding tab shows the UE4SS mod loader as Not on this server type. Players can still join with client mods while Allow client mods is on.

What Pocketpair says

The official mod page of the Palworld server guide (docs version 1.0.4):

  • Server-side mods work only on the dedicated server with the Windows edition.
  • The mod types it lists are UE4SS, Lua, PalSchema, LogicMods and Paks.
  • Only mods built to run on servers work on a server.

What your server has

  • One server type, Palworld, which is the Linux build. The Modding tab shows a UE4SS card with the badge Not on this server type and the text: "Palworld mods run on the Windows edition of the dedicated server. This server type is the Linux build, which Pocketpair do not support mods on."
  • The card also mentions another server type. That type is not available to choose today, so Edit Server Type does not offer it.

What you can change without mods

Most of what players ask mods for, such as faster rates, more workers, no death penalty or a hardcore mode, is a setting on the Gameplay Settings page, with presets: How to change gameplay settings on your Palworld server and How to set up your Palworld server with a preset.

Players with client mods

Allow client mods in Gameplay Settings, Gameplay rules: "Allow players with mods enabled to join the server." It is on by default. Switch it off to keep modded games out.

If server mods matter to you, open a ticket and tell us which mods you want to run.
