How to add mods to your Icarus server

Download the mod, upload its .pak file into Icarus/Content/Paks/mods in Files, and restart the server. There is nothing to switch on. Most Icarus mods must also be installed in each player's own game.

What the Modding tab says

Click the Modding tab on your server. The Icarus mods card shows Installed: the server always loads mods from its folders.

The card tells you:

• What happens to your world: your prospects, characters and saves are untouched. Most mods have to be installed in each player's game as well, or players are disconnected or see nothing where the mod's content should be.
• Where its add-ons go: Icarus/Content/Paks/mods.
• Mods packaged as a folder: a mod that comes as a folder with a .uplugin file in it goes in Icarus/Mods instead.
• Documentation: Icarus mods on Nexus, a place to find mods. Mods also come from Project Daedalus.

The panel has no catalog to browse for Icarus: you download mods yourself and upload them.

Add a .pak mod

1. Download the mod to your computer. Unpack it if it came as an archive, so you have the .pak file.
2. Take a backup: How to back up and restore your Icarus world.
3. Click the Files tab and open Icarus, Content, Paks, mods.
4. Click Upload and choose the .pak file.
5. Restart the server.

When the server loads it, the Console shows a line with Found Pak file and your file's name.

Add a mod that is a folder

1. Unpack the mod on your computer. It is a folder with a .uplugin file inside.
2. Upload the whole folder into Icarus/Mods with SFTP. The Files page cannot upload a folder. See How to connect to your server files with SFTP.
3. Restart the server. The Console shows Mounting plugin and the folder's name.

Tell your players

Send your players the list of mods and their versions, so they install the same ones. A player without them can be disconnected: Players are disconnected after you add a mod to your Icarus server.
