- Route A, remote RCON commands: under Settings, then Game Settings, type a password into RCON password (letters, numbers, dashes and underscores, 1 to 30 characters) and restart the server. With it empty, remote administration is off.
- Route A, continued: in your own game console, type rcon_address followed by your Server Address (address:port), then rcon_password followed by the RCON password you set. After that, put rcon in front of any server command, for example rcon changelevel de_mirage.
- Route B, admin permissions for plugin commands: under Settings, then Game Settings, turn on Plugin support (Metamod + CounterStrikeSharp) and restart so the plugin loader is installed.
- Route B, continued: in Files, open game/csgo/addons/counterstrikesharp/configs/admins.json (create the file if it is missing) and add yourself, for example { "YourName": { "identity": "76561198000000000", "flags": ["@css/generic"] } }. Replace the identity with your own 17-digit SteamID64 (it usually starts with 7656119) and use @css/root instead of @css/generic for full access. The file is JSON, so every quote, comma and bracket matters.
- Route B, continued: restart the server so the admins list is loaded.
- Route B, continued: the loader only supplies permissions. Install an admin plugin if you want commands such as kick and ban.

RCON commands (rcon_address, rcon_password and anything starting with rcon) are typed in your own game console. Admin commands from plugins are typed in game chat or in your game console while you are connected. Server commands such as meta list and css_plugins list are sent over RCON by putting rcon in front.
