Barotrauma takes Steam Workshop content packs, such as submarines, items, creatures and gameplay changes, which the server downloads for you when it starts.
Back up first. See How to back up and restore your Barotrauma world.
Add a mod
- Find the mod on the Barotrauma Steam Workshop and copy the number at the end of its page address (the part after id=).
- Add the number in the Workshop tab of your server, or in Steam Workshop Mod IDs under Settings, then Game Settings. Both edit the same list. Separate several IDs with commas and no spaces, for example 3112322785,2852315967.
- Packs load in the order you list them. If two packs change the same thing, the one further down the list wins.
- Restart the server so it downloads and loads the packs.
- Give your players the same list of mods. They subscribe to the same packs on the Workshop before joining.
- To remove a mod, take its ID out of the list and restart. A mod that added submarines, items or creatures can leave a campaign save unable to load, so make a panel backup first and remove one mod at a time.
Players need the same mods
Everyone who joins needs the same mods and versions as the server.
Check it worked
After the restart, join the server and check in the lobby that the mods' content, such as their submarines or items, is available. See How to add mods, plugins and modpacks.
If the server stops after you add a mod, remove the newest mod or restore your backup. See How to fix a server that will not start.
