Your Astroneer server's Overview page shows who is playing right now, read from the game itself. From there you can kick or ban a player, and Who can play sets each player's role and turns whitelist mode on or off. Everything here works while the server is running, and your changes stay after a restart.
See who is playing
The Active players card lists everyone in game, with the count against your plan's player limit. The owner and admins carry a badge next to their name. The list refreshes on its own every 20 seconds.
Kick or ban a player
- Open the menu next to the player's name on the Active players card.
- Choose Kick to remove them. They can rejoin straight away.
- Choose Ban to remove them and keep them out. Their role becomes Banned.
To lift a ban, open Who can play and change that player's role to Unlisted.
Roles
Every player your world knows has a role:
| Role | What it means |
|---|---|
| Owner | You. Set by Owner Steam Name and Owner Steam ID 64 under Settings, then Game Settings. It cannot be changed here. |
| Admin | Can open the in-game Server Admin menu. |
| Whitelisted | Allowed in when whitelist mode is on. |
| Banned | Cannot join. |
| Unlisted | A normal player, the role everyone gets on their first join. |
Change a role or add a player by name
- On the Active players card, click Who can play.
- Pick a new role from the list next to any player.
- To add someone who has never joined, type their Steam name exactly as it shows in game, choose a role and click Add. The role applies when they first join.
Names can be up to 32 characters and cannot contain quotes or backslashes.
Whitelist mode
Turn on Only listed players can join in Who can play and only the owner, admins and whitelisted players get in. Everyone else is refused. Add your friends as Whitelisted first, then turn it on.
Good to know
- These lists are the game's own and are only reachable while the server runs. Start the server first.
- Your server must have been installed on or after 17 October 2026 for the player list and these controls. An older server needs one reinstall from Settings: your world and settings are kept.
- Kicking works on players who are in game. Banning someone who is not online works through Who can play with their name.
