These are the options on the Settings, Game Settings page of a PlayNHost Abiotic Factor server, taken from the panel's own definitions. Rows marked read only are set by your plan or the server and cannot be changed.
All settings
| Setting | What it does | Allowed | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Auto Update | Check for a game update each time the server starts. Leave it on. If it is off, players on a newer version will not see or join the server. | on or off | on |
| Server Name | The name shown in the server browser and to joining players. | up to 64 characters, no double quotes or backslashes | A PlaynHost Server |
| Server Password | Password players must enter to join. Leave empty to run a public server. | up to 30 characters, no double quotes or backslashes | empty |
| Number of Players (read only) | The player limit included with your plan. This field is read-only. To run with fewer players, click Players on your server Overview page and pick any number up to your plan limit (this restarts your server). Good to know
- Server Name, Server Password and Auto Update are in Settings, then Game Settings and are applied when the server starts, so restart after changing them. The gameplay rules marked file only are not in Game Settings: they live in the file SandboxSettings.ini inside Files, at AbioticFactor, then Saved, then Config, then WindowsServer. Its first line must be
[SandboxSettings], and each rule goes on its own line below it, for exampleGameDifficulty=2. If the file is not there, create it with that name in that folder. Edit it while the server is stopped, then start the server again. - The panel saves a value when you leave its field. If the value is not allowed, the panel tells you and keeps the old one.
- Passwords and tokens are not listed with a value. Each server starts with one set for you, or with none, as the row says. Set a password before you invite players if you want a private server.
