On your server's Overview page, click the pencil next to Slots, or Edit slots on the Active players card. The Edit Player Slots window shows what your plan allows. Pick a number, click Update, and the server restarts with the new limit. Max Players in Game Settings is read only: it shows the result.
Change the slots
- Open your server in the panel. You land on Overview.
- Click the pencil next to Slots on the server card. On a computer, the slots chip at the top of the page opens the same window.
- The window Edit Player Slots says
Your plan allows up toand a number, andThis will restart your server. - Type a number or use the arrows, then click Update.

The server restarts, so players are disconnected for a moment. You can raise the number again later, up to what your plan allows.
Who can change it
You need the Rename server permission in the Settings area. Without it there is no pencil. See How to let a friend help run your Terraria server.
Good to know
- On TShock, TShock's own slot limit in
tshock/config.jsonis set to the same number at every start, so you never need to change it there. - TShock can keep extra slots for players with a special permission: Reserved slots on the
config.jsonpage. See How to change TShock settings on your Terraria server. - On Terraria Vanilla and tModLoader,
maxplayersin the Console prints the current limit. - More on the page: How to rename your server and change player slots.
