Start your TShock server, join it, and type /setup followed by the code printed in the Console at start. The code is also in the file tshock/setup-code.txt. TShock then lets you run one command: create your own account in the owner group with /user add, log in with /login, and type /setup again to close the setup.
Find the setup code
- Start the server and open the Console tab. Until you finish the setup, TShock prints this as it starts:
To setup the server, join the game and type /setupfollowed by the code. - Or open the Files tab, open the
tshockfolder and opensetup-code.txt.
Keep the code to yourself: anyone who types it first gets the one command.
Make yourself owner
- Join the server with Terraria: How to join your Terraria server.
- Open the chat and type
/setup, a space and the code. - TShock answers
Temporary system access has been given to you, so you can run one command.and shows the command to use. - Type
/user addfollowed by a user name, a password andowner:/user add <username> <password> owner, with your own user name and password in place of the words in brackets. - Log in:
/login <username> <password>. - Type
/setupagain. TShock saysYour new account has been verified, and the /setup system has been turned off.
From now on, log in with /login and your user name and password when you join. You are in the owner group, TShock's highest built-in group.
Make a friend admin
Once you are owner, create accounts for your helpers and put them in a group: How to manage TShock groups and permissions.
Good to know
- TShock accounts, groups and bans live in the
tshockfolder, in TShock's own database. They are in your panel backups. - Being owner in TShock is separate from panel access. To let someone restart the server or change settings in the panel: How to let a friend help run your Terraria server.
- In the panel Console, commands are typed without the
/: the Console already has full rights. - TShock's own guide: the Documentation link on the Modding tab's TShock card.
