TShock decides what each player may do by group. Create an account for a helper with user add, put it in a group with user group, and change what a group may do with group addperm and group delperm. Type the commands in game with a / in front, or in the panel Console without it.
You need to be owner first: How to become admin on your TShock server.
Accounts
TShock's own help lists these:
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
user add username password group | Adds a user in that group |
user del username | Removes a user |
user password username newpassword | Changes a user's password |
user group username newgroup | Changes a user's group |
For example, in the Console, user group Alex followed by a group name from group list moves Alex's account into that group. Players can also make their own account in game with /register, then /login.
Groups
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
group list | Lists the groups |
group listperm <group> | Lists a group's permissions |
group add <name> <permissions...> | Adds a new group |
group addperm <group> <permissions...> | Adds permissions to a group |
group delperm <group> <permissions...> | Removes permissions from a group |
group parent <group> <parent group> | Changes a group's parent group |
group prefix <group> <prefix> | Changes a group's chat prefix |
group del <group> | Deletes a group |
A group gets every permission of its parent group too. A new TShock server comes with groups including guest, default, vip, newadmin, admin, trustedadmin and owner, each one the parent of the next, so each has more rights than the one before. Type group list to see the groups your server has before you choose one.
Where to type
- In the panel Console: open the Console tab and type the command without
/, for examplegroup list. The Console has full rights. - In game: type
/and the command in chat, once you are logged in to an account whose group allows it.
Good to know
- Plugins add their own permissions. Their names are in each plugin's documentation.
- Groups and accounts are stored in TShock's database in the
tshockfolder, not inconfig.json. - TShock's other options, such as spawn protection and who must log in: How to change TShock settings on your Terraria server.
