Open your server's Overview page and click Copy invite message on the Play with friends card. Paste the message in Discord, Steam chat or wherever your friends are. It has your server's address and the steps to join.
Send the invite
- Open your server in the panel. You land on Overview.
- On the Play with friends card, click Copy invite message.
- Paste it to your friends.
The message says Join my Rust server: followed by your address, then lists the steps from the card: press F1 in the game, type client.connect and the address, and how to pair the Rust+ app once in.

Before you invite
- Start the server and wait for Online: How to start your Rust server for the first time.
- Set a clear name and description, so people recognise the server in the list: How to change your Rust server name and description.
- Check you have enough slots: How to change player slots on your Rust server.
- If you switched to the Staging branch, tell friends to use the Rust Staging Branch app: How to switch your Rust server to the staging branch.
Let a friend help run the server
Playing and running the server are different. The address lets a friend play. To let a friend restart the server, manage admins or run wipes, invite them to the panel with Invite people at the top of the server page, or from Team & Roles in the left menu, and give them a role. See How to let a friend help run your Rust server and How to invite friends and give them access.
To make someone an admin in the game, use the Admins button on the Active players card: How to become admin on your Rust server.
