Can PlayStation or Xbox players join a The Bus server?

The BusUpdated Oct 30, 20263 min read

No. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players cannot join a The Bus server, because multiplayer in The Bus is PC only. The developer's release FAQ says: "Multiplayer is not available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S." Your PlayNHost The Bus server is for players on PC.

Which players can join?

Players with The Bus on PC from Steam. The Steam page lists Windows as the platform, with multiplayer and online co-op. The developer's release FAQ of 20 March 2026 answers "Will there be multiplayer?" with "Yes, on PC", and The Bus left early access on 26 March 2026.

Is there crossplay between PC and console?

No. Consoles have no multiplayer in The Bus, so there is nothing to cross over to. The release FAQ also says the console version is bought separately from the PC version, "as these are different platforms".

Do mods work for console players?

No. The same FAQ says "Modding is currently not supported on consoles." Mods on your server are for PC players: How to add mods to your The Bus server.

Does every player need to own the game?

Yes. Each player needs their own copy of The Bus. The server does not: PlayNHost installs The Bus Dedicated Server from Steam, which needs no game licence.

For DLC maps and buses, the developer's Hamburg City FAQ says "All players must own the same DLCs to use them together."
