A Rising World server's player limit is set by Rising World itself, in the Settings_MaxPlayers line of the game's server.properties file. On PlayNHost you change it under Files and restart the server. The panel has no player slot setting for Rising World, so the number in that line is the limit, whatever the Slots row on Overview shows.
Where is the player limit set?
In server.properties, in the main folder under Files. The official sample file describes Settings_MaxPlayers as the "Maximum number of online players on the server", and the 2021 sample sets it to 64. The developer's dedicated server guide shows the same setting, to "override the max allowed player count".
The developer's guide gives no upper limit for this setting.
How do I change it?
- Open your server in the panel, click Stop and wait for Offline.
- Open Files and click
server.properties. - Find the line
Settings_MaxPlayers=and change the number after the=, for exampleSettings_MaxPlayers=10. If your file has no such line, add it on a new line. - Click Save content.
- Click Start and wait for
Dedicated server is ready!in the Console.
The panel does not change this line, so your number stays across restarts and updates.
What does the Slots row on Overview mean?
The Slots row on the Overview page shows the player number your plan was set up with, or Unlimited. On Rising World the panel has no setting to write that number into the game, so the row has no pencil and the server does not read it. The limit players meet is the Settings_MaxPlayers line in server.properties.
Does a bigger group need more memory?
The developer's guide suggests 1 to 2 GB of RAM for small servers with few players and 4 to 8 GB for more players. PlayNHost measured about 308 MiB with nobody online. Read your own server's memory while people play: How much RAM does a Rising World server need?.
