Check these in order: the server is Online, the IP and port are right, the password matches, everyone is on the server's game version, and mods and EasyAntiCheat match. Most join problems are one of these.
1. Is the server online
- Open your server in the panel. The badge must say Online.
- Open the Console. The server is ready when it shows
Connected with 7DTD server. A first start or a new random map takes several minutes: How to start your 7 Days to Die server for the first time.
2. The IP and port
- Copy the IP and Port again from the Play with friends card on Overview.
- In the game choose Join a Game, then Connect to IP. The IP and the port go in separate boxes. A missing or mistyped port is the most common cause.
See How to join your 7 Days to Die server.
3. The password
It must match exactly, capitals included. Check the Password row on the Play with friends card. None set means no password.
4. Same game version
Players on a newer game than the server cannot join, and the other way round. Restart the server so it updates, and check Auto Update is on: Players see a version mismatch on your 7 Days to Die server.
5. Mods and EasyAntiCheat
- A mod that ships a .dll needs EasyAntiCheat off on the server, and players must then start the game without EasyAntiCheat.
- Mods with new models, icons or code must be installed on each player's game at the same version.
See How to add mods to your 7 Days to Die server.
6. Full server, whitelist or ban
- Count the players with
listplayersin the Console. If the server is full, raise Slots on Overview up to your plan: How to change player slots on your 7 Days to Die server. - If the whitelist has entries, only players on it can join: type
whitelist list. - Type
ban listto check the player is not banned.
7. Console players
PlayStation and Xbox players need a crossplay server with 8 slots or fewer and EasyAntiCheat on, and they join from the server list: How to let console players join your 7 Days to Die server.
Still stuck
Click Ask support on the Play with friends card. It opens a ticket that asks what the player typed and what they see. A screenshot of the error helps.
