Open Quick Tasks, find World Reset under All tasks, click Run, tick Back up the server first and confirm. The server stops, every saved world is deleted, and the next start builds a fresh one. Admins, bans and your settings stay.
What a wipe deletes and keeps
Deleted: every save folder in .local/share/7DaysToDie/Saves, for every map and every Save Name. That is the world, everything built in it, and players' characters, levels and inventories, which belong to the save.
Kept: the admin list, bans and whitelist (serveradmin.xml), the game's player profiles file, your settings, serverconfig.xml, mods and plugins. A random map's terrain is kept too, because the same seed builds the same map anyway. For a different map, change the seed: How to choose your 7 Days to Die map, world size and seed.
To start fresh and keep the old world, change Save Name instead of wiping: How to start a new world on your 7 Days to Die server.
Wipe now
- Open your server in the panel and click Quick Tasks in the left menu.
- Under All tasks, find World Reset. Its description says:
Deletes the world and everything built in it so the next start generates fresh. Server settings, the admin list and player profiles are kept. - Click Run. A window opens, Run World Reset?, with the folders under Deleted from Files.
- Leave Back up the server first ticked (it is ticked when your plan has backup slots). The wipe starts only once the backup has finished, and the backup uses one of your backup slots.
- Click Run World Reset.
The panel says Started. It runs as the schedule and the schedule's name. It stops the server, waits a minute for the game to finish saving, deletes the saves and starts the server again. The Console shows each step. The first start after a wipe builds a new world, which takes a few minutes.
Wipe on a schedule
The ready-made World wipe waits under Ready-made for 7 Days To Die on Quick Tasks. It runs on day 1 of every month at 04:00. It arrives switched off, because many communities wipe when a big game update comes out rather than by the calendar.
- On Quick Tasks, under Ready-made for 7 Days To Die, click Add next to World wipe. It appears under Schedules, switched off.
- Switch it on when you want it to run.
The scheduled wipe does not take a backup first, so your nightly Automatic backup is your safety net. Its time cannot be changed on Quick Tasks. If day 1 at 04:00 does not suit you, leave it off and run World Reset yourself when you want a wipe. See How to schedule tasks and automatic backups.
Undo a wipe
Restore the backup taken before it. A wipe started with Run names it Before World Reset. Open Backups and use Restore some files... on that backup to put back .local/share/7DaysToDie/Saves. See How to back up and restore your 7 Days to Die world.
