Change Save Name on the Settings tab, Game Settings page, and restart. The server starts a brand new world under that name, and your old world stays on disk. Set the old name back to play it again.
Start a new world and keep the old one
- Open your server in the panel, click the Settings tab, then Game Settings.
- Type a new name in Save Name, for example
Season2, and press Enter. Up to 32 characters: letters, numbers, spaces and_ . -. - Click Restart now.
The new world uses the map in World. To start on another map at the same time, change World too: How to choose your 7 Days to Die map, world size and seed.
Go back to an old world
- Set Save Name to the old name, exactly as it was, capitals included.
- Set World to the map that world was made on, with the same seed and size for a random map.
- Restart the server.
To see which worlds you have, open Files and look in .local/share/7DaysToDie/Saves: one folder per map, and one folder per Save Name inside it.
What carries over
- Kept: the admin list, bans and whitelist (
serveradmin.xml), your settings and your mods. - New: the world, everything built in it, and players' characters, levels and inventories, which belong to a save.
Delete an old world instead
To clear the world you play now and start over under the same name, use the wipe: How to wipe your 7 Days to Die server.
To free the space an old world takes, download it first (How to download your 7 Days to Die world), then delete its folder in Files with Delete folder. Deleting it cannot be undone without a backup.
