How to download your 7 Days to Die world

7 Days to DieUpdated Oct 24, 20263 min read

Open Files, go to .local/share/7DaysToDie, and download the Saves folder with Download folder. For a random map, download its folder in GeneratedWorlds too. Or download a whole backup from the Backups page.

Download from Files

  1. In the panel, type saveworld in the Console, or click Run on Save World on the Quick Tasks page, so the newest progress is on disk. Or stop the server.
  2. Open Files, then .local, share, 7DaysToDie.
  3. Open the menu on the Saves folder and choose Download folder. To download just one world, open Saves, then the map, and download the folder named after your Save Name.
  4. For a random map, also download its folder in GeneratedWorlds.

If a download is large, choose Zip folder first and download the zip it makes.

Download a backup

  1. Click Backups in the left menu.
  2. Open the menu of a backup and choose Download.

A backup holds the whole server, game files included, so it is large. It is the right choice when you want everything, including mods and serverconfig.xml. See How to back up and restore your 7 Days to Die world.

Play it on your own PC

Put the world folders into the same places on your PC, in %APPDATA%\7DaysToDie: the save into Saves\<map>\, the terrain into GeneratedWorlds\. Your PC game must be on the same version as the server.

To bring a world the other way, see How to upload your own 7 Days to Die world.
