How to change your 7 Days to Die server name and password

Open the Settings tab, then Game Settings, and change Server Name, Server Description or Server Password. Restart the server and the new values are live.

Change the name, description or password

1. Open your server in the panel and click the Settings tab, then Game Settings.
2. Type the new value in Server Name, Server Description or Server Password, then press Enter.
3. Click Restart now in the box that appears, or restart later.

Letters means the plain English letters A to Z: accented letters and quotes are refused. If a value is not allowed, the panel says so and keeps the old one.

Make the server private or open

• Private: set a Server Password. Players type it when they join. The Play with friends card shows it in its Password row, and Copy invite message includes it.
• Open: clear the Server Password box and press Enter. Anyone with the address can join.

Show or hide the server in the list

Server Listing decides where the server appears in the game's server list:

• Public: everyone sees it.
• Friends only: the game shows it to friends only.
• Hidden: nobody sees it in the list.

A hidden server can still be joined with Connect to IP and the IP and port from the Play with friends card. Console players find servers in the list, so keep Public if they play: How to let console players join your 7 Days to Die server.

Good to know

• These fields win over the same lines in serverconfig.xml: the panel hands them to the game at every start. Change them here, not in the file.
• The name in the panel's server list is separate. To rename the server in the panel, see How to rename your server and change player slots.
