Your server runs the world named in World Name, in Settings, Game Settings. Every world is a .wld file in saves/Worlds. To switch, set World Name to another world's file name without .wld, and restart. The other worlds stay on disk untouched.
See which worlds you have
- Open your server in the panel and click the Files tab.
- Open
saves, thenWorlds. - Each world is a file such as
world.wld. The name before.wldis what goes in World Name. Files ending in.bakare the game's older copies of a world, not separate worlds.
Switch
- Click the Settings tab, then Game Settings.
- Set World Name to the world's file name without
.wld, for examplecastleforcastle.wld. Capitals count. - Restart the server. The Console shows the world loading, then the ready line.
If you type a name that has no file, the server creates a new world with that name instead. Check the spelling against the file name if you see a world being generated: Your Terraria server made a new world instead of loading yours.
Worlds and server types
All three server types keep their worlds in saves/Worlds, so a world made on Terraria Vanilla is still there after you switch to TShock or tModLoader. tModLoader runs an older Terraria and cannot open a world saved by Terraria 1.4.5: tModLoader cannot open your Terraria world.
Good to know
- On TShock and tModLoader, World Name cannot contain spaces. Rename the file in Files first if it has spaces.
- Only one world runs at a time.
