How to Become an Admin on Your RuneScape: Dragonwilds Server

RuneScape: DragonwildsUpdated Oct 3, 20263 min read

RuneScape: Dragonwilds grants admin to the owner of the world, and the owner can promote other players in game. Older guides describe an admin password, but the current game version no longer reads one, so there is no password to share.

Set the owner ID

  1. In the game open the Settings menu, scroll to the bottom and use the copy button to copy your 32 character player ID.
  2. In the panel open Settings, then Game Settings, and paste it into Owner Player ID.
  3. Restart the server.

The panel writes the owner ID into DedicatedServer.ini at every start, so there is no need to edit the file.

Use it in game

  1. Join the server with the account that owns that player ID.
  2. Open the Pause Menu, then Settings.
  3. Open the Server Management tab.

The owner can kick, ban and unban players there, and promote other players to admin from the in-game player list.

The admin password box

The panel still shows an Admin Password field, labelled as not used by the game. The current game version deletes that value from its config at every start, and entering it in game does not make anyone an admin. You can leave it as it is.

The server does start without an owner ID, but until you set your own nobody owns the world.

Revoking admin

Admin is a role the owner hands out from the in-game player list, not a shared password, so there is no password to change when someone leaves your group. To remove a player you no longer trust, the owner can ban them from Server Management in the Pause menu.

The panel console

The Console section for your server is attached to the server process. It shows joins, leaves and errors, and it is the first place to look when an admin action does not behave as expected.

If you are not the owner in game

  • Owner Player ID must be exactly the 32 letters and digits copied from the game.
  • The server must have been restarted after the change.
  • Join with the account that the player ID belongs to.
