Change the player limit of your Project Zomboid server with Edit slots on the Active players card of the Overview page. You can pick any number up to the limit of your plan. The Max Players row under Game Settings is read only, so you cannot type a number there.
Change the limit
- Open your server in the panel and stay on the Overview page.
- On the Active players card, click Edit slots. You can also use the pencil on the Players row of the game card.
- The window Edit Player Slots says what your plan allows: "Your plan allows up to N players. This will restart your server."
- Choose the number and click Update.

The server restarts, so players are disconnected. Do it when nobody is online, or tell them first.
Why Max Players is read only
The row shows the limit that comes with your plan. The panel writes it into the game's settings at every start (the Console prints [playnhost] MaxPlayers=<number>), so a number typed into the file by hand would be overwritten. Edit slots changes the value the panel writes.
Go above the limit
The limit comes from your plan. To raise it, open My plan in the left menu (owner only) and look at the plan options: How to rename your server and change player slots.
Good to know
- A server that is full shows n / n on the card. Players who try to join are refused: Players cannot join your Project Zomboid server.
- More players need more memory. Watch the Usage card: How much RAM does a Project Zomboid server need.
- To see who is online: How to see who is online on your Project Zomboid server.
