The Mumble project makes the desktop app. Phone apps are made by other developers, and several are free.
Find an app
Search your store for Mumble. For Android, Mumla is a well-known open-source client. For iPhone, look for a Mumble client in the App Store and check the developer and reviews. Pick one that is maintained and supports current Mumble servers.
Connect
- Open the app and add a new server.
- Enter the address and port from your server's Overview page in the panel.
- Choose a username. Add the join password if your server has one: How to set a join password.
- Accept the certificate the first time: Mumble certificate warnings explained.
Tips
- Use push-to-talk or a headset button so the phone does not transmit noise.
- Voice uses little data, but keep an eye on it on a mobile plan. Wi-Fi gives steadier audio.
- Phone apps sometimes lose the connection when the phone sleeps. Turn off battery saving for the app.
- If you cannot connect on mobile data but can on Wi-Fi, your mobile network may be blocking the port: Cannot connect to your Mumble server: fixes.
