Your Mumble server is created when you order, and it starts with a slot limit set by your plan. A few minutes of setup makes it yours.
Settings to change first
- Open your server in the panel and click Settings, then Game Settings.
- SuperUser Password. Set a password for Mumble's built-in
SuperUserlogin. This is how you create channels and manage permissions. Letters, numbers, dot, dash and underscore only. Keep it private. - Join Password. Optional. Players must enter it to connect. See How to set a join password.
- Server Name and Welcome Message. The name above the channel list and the text new users see in the chat window. Basic HTML such as
<br />for a line break is allowed. See How to change your Mumble server name and welcome message. - Maximum Users is set by your plan and cannot be changed here. To get more slots, move to a bigger plan: How many slots does a voice server need.
- Restart the server so the changes apply. See How to start, stop, restart and force-stop your server.
Create your channels
- Connect to the server with the Mumble app. See How to connect to your Mumble server.
- Log in as
SuperUserwith the password you set. In the Mumble app, choose Server, then Connect, and use the user nameSuperUser. - Right-click the root channel and choose Add to create channels such as a lobby, one per game, and a quiet room.
- Right-click a channel and choose Edit to set permissions for groups and users.
Good to know
- A slot is one person connected at a time.
