WorldGuard protects areas of your world. Install WorldEdit and WorldGuard from Modding, Plugins, restart, select your spawn with the WorldEdit wand, then type /rg define spawn. Only the region's members and owners can build there; you can then switch PvP, mobs and more on or off with flags.
The commands below are from WorldGuard's official documentation.
Install WorldGuard
- Open your server in the panel, click the Modding tab, then Plugins.
- Install WorldEdit first, yourself. WorldGuard's guide says:
Make sure you get WorldEdit as well!WorldGuard's Modrinth page does not list WorldEdit as a requirement, so the panel may not add it for you. - Install WorldGuard.
- Restart the server.
WorldGuard is published for Paper, Spigot and Folia, so it also runs on Purpur. WorldGuard's documentation lists the permission each command needs. For the wand and selections, see How to use WorldEdit on your Minecraft server.
Protect your spawn
- In the game, type
//wandand select the spawn area: left-click one corner, right-click the opposite corner. The region is the box between the two corners, so put one corner low and the other high enough to cover what you want. - Type
/rg define spawn. This creates a region namedspawnover the selection. - By default, only members and owners of a region can build in it, so nobody else can break or place blocks there.
Let people build in a region
/rg addmember spawn Stevelets Steve build inspawn./rg addowner spawn Stevemakes Steve an owner.g:names a permission group, for example/rg addmember spawn g:builders.
Change what is allowed with flags
A flag is set with /rg flag <region> <flag> <value>. For example:
/rg flag spawn pvp deny: no fighting between players./rg flag spawn mob-spawning deny: no mobs spawn./rg flag spawn creeper-explosion denyand/rg flag spawn tnt deny: no explosion damage./rg flag spawn greeting Welcome to spawn!: a message when players enter./rg flag spawn pvpwith no value removes the flag again.
To set a flag on the whole world, use the special region __global__, for example /rg flag __global__ pvp deny.
Good to know
- Take a backup before you change many regions. See How to create, download and restore backups.
- To find and undo damage someone already did, use CoreProtect: How to undo griefing with CoreProtect on your Minecraft server.
- Minecraft's own spawn protection is a separate setting: How to change spawn protection on your Minecraft server.
- All flags are listed in WorldGuard's documentation at worldguard.enginehub.org.
